Another picture of the empty and decaying Red House in Red House Park Great Barr to compare with the Jacobean Haden Hill House in Cradely Heath that has undergone at least partial restoration and is a museum. Note the windows protected by plastic.

Once these old houses go they are gone - in the immediate post war years many old houses were demolished as upkeep was too much. 

I visited Red House Park, Great Barr and took these pictures of the the Red House now empty and boarded up, falling into dereliction. Though it’s up for Let to businesses it seems to be falling into decay. Built toward the end of the 17th century by a family that made vast wealth from the industrial revolution it hasn’t been a lived in house since the 1920’s , owend thereafter by the local council and used for various things including the army from 1940 - 1966. I suspect this will eventually fall victim to arson and be demolished like so many old building in the West Midlands.
